Rediscovering passions (if you know them!)

Updated: Jan 30

Have you ever felt like something is missing in your life?

If so, you're not alone. Many people reach a point in their lives where they feel stuck or uncertain about their next steps, just like me now. But the good news for those who have a passion, is that it's never too late to rediscover them. Something though I'm struggling with at the moment. Rediscovering your passions is about reconnecting with the things that bring you joy and fulfillment. It's about tapping into your true self and aligning your life with your values and desires. Here are some examples, thoughts, and tips to help you on your journey of rediscovery: 1. Reflect on your past: Think back to your childhood and early adulthood. What activities or hobbies brought you joy? What were you passionate about? Sometimes, our true passions are buried beneath the responsibilities and expectations of adulthood. Take the time to reconnect with those forgotten passions. 2. Try new things: Rediscovering your passions doesn't mean you have to stick to what you've always known. Be open to trying new activities and experiences. Take a painting class, join a sports team, or learn a musical instrument. 3. Surround yourself with inspiration: Seek out people, books, and podcasts that inspire you. Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who are passionate about their own pursuits can be incredibly motivating. Listen to stories of others who have found their true path in life and let their journeys inspire you. 4. Embrace discomfort: Rediscovering your passions often requires stepping out of your comfort zone. It may feel scary or unfamiliar at first, but growth happens outside of our comfort zones. Embrace the discomfort and trust that it will lead you to new and exciting opportunities. 5. Set goals and take action: Once you've identified your passions, set goals to pursue them. Break those goals down into smaller, actionable steps and start taking action. Whether it's signing up for a class, starting a side project, or reaching out to a mentor, taking small steps towards your passions will keep you motivated and moving forward.

Even though this list feels simple, personally only number 3 comes close to being something I can connect with. Guess that's better than noting at this stage. Remember, the journey of rediscovering your passions is unique to you. It's not about comparing yourself to others or trying to fit into a mold. It's about embracing your true self and finding what brings you joy and fulfillment.
